One Rule for AI Use

Quick question for a Friday afternoon.

A Harvard professor encourages AI on every single assignment but requires students to draft their own arguments first. AI only enters as critic and editor, never as author.

If you could add ONE ground rule for AI use in your classroom or workplace, what would it be? Not a policy paragraph, just one clear rule that changes the behavior.

Tell me the update for this search

For School cite sources, not message boards. ( I often request that when deep diving into a subject, to omit Reddit)

Dean Le Blanc

That's a sharp rule, Michael. Honestly one that more people need to hear.

"Cite sources, not message boards" cuts right to the heart of one of AI's biggest blind spots. When you tell Claude to omit Reddit, you're essentially teaching it to prioritize signal over noise. That's a prompting skill most people never think about.

I'd take it one step further: not just avoiding message boards, but actively requesting primary sources like peer reviewed research, government reports, and institutional publications. The quality of what you feed AI directly shapes the quality of what comes back.

Great answer. Simple, actionable, and it changes behavior immediately.

Hey Leyla! Can you tell me a bit more about what you mean? Are you asking about updates to AI search tools, or something specific about how AI handles research? Happy to dig into whatever you're curious about.
