Today's question for the community: where is higher education getting AI wrong?
Not whether to use AI in college. That debate is over. The real question is where it gets integrated. Because the student experience is not one thing. It is a stack of four layers, and AI does something completely different in each one:
Personalized support: the patient tutor available at 11 PM when no human is.
Belonging and retention: AI reading the quiet signals early and tapping a human advisor before a student slips away.
Accessibility: reshaping material to fit a real human life, without ever lowering the bar.
Everyday study skills: the student's own AI fluency, the layer that outlasts the diploma.
Most schools bolt a chatbot onto layer one, call it innovation, and never touch the other three. The fourth layer, student fluency, is the one almost nobody is funding, and it is the only one a graduate carries into every job for the next forty years.
So I want to hear from you. Whether you teach, advise, lead, or study in higher ed: which of these four layers is being handled the worst where you are right now? Be specific. A real example beats a general opinion every time.
Full breakdown is in today's Daily Seed on @TheDailySeedHK.
If today's topic made you want to actually build that fourth layer instead of just nodding along, I made you the tool for it. There is a new four-phase activity set in the SeedStacking Resources space called Build Your Student Experience Stack. Four short activities, Seed through Harvest, that walk you from a single confusing question all the way to your own shareable AI Fluency Playbook. It is free, it is finishable today, and the Harvest activity is built to be posted right back in the community. Find it in SeedStacking Resources.
