The Fluency Multiplier Field Kit

Rep 1: Spot the Substitution Trap

Pick one task at your work that an AI tool now touches. Any task. Write down two things side by side: the raw output the AI produces, and the finished outcome a real person still has to deliver.

Do this: On paper or a note, draw one line down the middle. Left side: what the AI spits out. Right side: what actually has to be true before a customer, student, or boss is satisfied. The gap between them is the Substitution Trap in miniature.

You end up with: The I see the gap moment. You now recognize where output stops and outcome begins.

Rep 2: Run the Aim, Verify, Finish Loop

Take one real AI output from Rep 1 and run it through three honest checks. This is the loop a fluent human runs without thinking, and the loop a headcount cut deletes.

Do this: Ask three questions and answer each in writing. Aim: is this pointed at the real problem, or a nearby easier one? Verify: what is confidently wrong or unsupported here? Finish: what is the last mile that turns this into something someone benefits from?

You end up with: A single output you have personally aimed, corrected, and finished. Proof the loop is a skill, not a vibe.

Rep 3: Build Your Fluency Checklist

Turn that loop into a reusable checklist tuned to your actual job. This is how a one-time save becomes a standing capability the machine needs you for.

Do this: Write 5 to 8 checkpoints you will run on every AI output in your role. Make them specific to your work, not generic. A teacher, a nurse, and an analyst should end up with three very different lists.

You end up with: A personal AI SOP. The start of being the fluent human a team cannot route around.
